The official highlights programme of the 2003 Solheim Cup.
Since its inauguration in 1990, the USA has dominated this event and lead 5-2 in the series. But Europe, sporting the world number one, Annika Sörenstam, and a preponderance of highly talented youngsters and experienced players, were not about to lose the Solheim Cup in their back yard.
For the first time in its 13-year history, The Solheim Cup was played in continental Europe and fittingly, Sweden, a country that has borne some of the most influential and talented women golfers of the modern era, was chosen to host the event.
The 2003 Solheim Cup was a mouth watering affair and Barsebäck Golf and Country Club proved to be a fitting venue. Team Captains Patty Sheehan and Catrin Nilsmark led their gladiators out with heads held high and emotions charged. Those who watched witnessed three days of spectacular golf in a nation where golf borders on religion. Nilsmark, crippled by back pain and helped by a bean bag, converted golf buggy, crutches and a brave disposition, guided her team to an historic victory which embodied the previous 12 years of skill, glamour, passion, style, gamesmanship, tears of joy and defeat, fist pumping, frenzied jingoism and spirited rivalry.
Now you can relive all the highlights and drama of Europe's victory by 17.5 - 10.5 on this official programme.
